2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R DOHC 4V Cylinder Heads Bare New | eBay

Are these 00' Cobra "R" heads similar to the ford GT heads. How do they stack up vs 03' cobra heads. Can the Sullivan intake be used on the "r" heads & 4.6 block? what options do I have for headers on a 4.6 block. I'm considering purchasing a set. is there anything to look out for? pre/post production casting numbers?

Thanks SVTp

The seller is 100% legit. He worked on the 00R program.

They are almost identical to Ford GT/GT500 heads. They share the same exhaust port as the 03-04 heads but have a different intake port.

There are 2-3 intakes that fit these heads:
-Cobra R lower intake on a 5.4 block
-GT500 lower on a 5.4 block
-FR500C intake on a 4.6 based block

Another difference in the cobra r heads is that they use bigger exhaust valves, 32mm iirc.

Here is the FR500C intake that will fit the R heads on a 4.6 based block

Also as far as headers, any header made for 03-04 cobra will fit.

Any header made for a 4.6 will work as the R exh ports are identical to those on B and C heads. The exh ports of the GT heads are different and will not accept any 4.6 exh manifolds or headers without some modification.

The 4.6 Sullivan will not work as it's ports are far too small and cannot be ported to match (see pic).

The intake ports of the F and GT heads are far too large for a 4.6 but would work with a big bore stroker.

Here's a pic of a GT/R intake gasket on a C intake:

If you don't have socks on in that pic, you may need to go to the doctor right away. You have not circulation in your feet and they have changed colors! :-D

Did you by any chance play Adam Sandler's foot double in the movie "Mr Deeds"? :-Dwe

I need to retract what I put about the Sullivan, I thought I remember reading over on modded mustangs about a member porting the heck out of a sullivan to fit on r heads.
I'm sure I'm wrong bc that's a huge difference in port size in that pic.

Those were some sweet looking dogs he had in that movie.

I've port matched a 5.4 Sullivan to GT500/R heads but there just isn't enough meat in the 4.6 intakes to do so. The 5.4 Sullivan still requires a good amount of epoxy on the port floor and the removal of juducious amounts of material.

What's the RPM range on the 00R intake? What kind of benefits would it provide with these heads on a 327ci BB/Stroker?

The R will make peak around 6400 if the cams allow it and it's pretty much done at 7000.
