You can perform a full backup of your account/domain from cPanel >> “Backups” option under the Files section. The full cPanel backup is very useful when migrating an account from one server to another.

1) Login to cPanel at http://yourdomainname.tld:2082 click the “Backups” option as shown in the screen below

2) On the next screen, cPanel will offer you various option to generate a full backup, i.e. to backup a home directory, databases, emails etc. Click on “Download or Generate a Full Website Backup” as shown in the following screen.

3) Here you will have to decide where you need to save the copy of the backup file by selecting the appropriate option from the “Backup Destination” drop down list.

a) “Home Directory” to keep the backup under your home directory itself i.e. /home/username. Click “Generate Backup” button to start the backup process and the backup file will be visible on the same screen once the process completes.

b) “Remote Ftp Server” if you want to send the backup file to a remote server in which case, you need to mention the Remote Server IP, Ftp user/password, port and directory. Click “Generate Backup” button and the backup file will be copied to the remote server once the process completes.

In either of the above case, you can specify an email address in the “Email Address” field to receive a notification.

Note: This cPanel generated backup cannot be restored from the cPanel interface. It can only be restored from shell as root OR from WHM interface.

The e-mail address postmaster@mydomain.com deleted successfully.

The error message is displayed when you delete an email account of a domain from cPanel >> ‘Email Accounts’ that is either shifted under another users account OR usually happens when a domain is swapped from add-on domain to main domain OR vice-versa.

How to change cPanel theme for multiple accounts?

The cPanel theme for an account is specified in the /var/cpanel/users/username file in the format

RS=value

For example:

BWLIMIT=unlimited
DEMO=0
DNS=domainname.com
FEATURELIST=default
HASCGI=1
IP=IPHERE
LANG=english
LOCALE=en
MAXADDON=0
MAXFTP=0
MAXLST=0
MAXPARK=0
MAXPOP=5
MAXSQL=0
MAXSUB=0
MTIME=1271068514
OWNER=root
PLAN=default
STARTDATE=1228721668
USER=username
RS=x3

where, x3 is the theme. WHM only provides the option to change the cPanel theme for an account one at a time. In order to change the theme for all the accounts at once, execute the following script:

for i in `ls -la /var/cpanel/users/ | awk ‘{print $9}’ | sed ‘1,3 d’`
do
sed -i “/RS/d” $i;
echo “RS=x3″ >> $i;
done;

here, it will change the cPanel theme of all the accounts on the server to ‘x3′ theme. Since all the files are updated manually, you need to execute the following script to rebuild the cache

/scripts/updateuserdomains

Note: The single OR double quotes in the script may change to dot (.) on copy/pasting the command in the shell, so make sure you correct those before executing the command.

A flaw in the popular ProFTPD FTP server potentially allows unauthenticated attackers to compromise a server. The problem is caused by a buffer overflow in the pr_netio_telnet_gets() function for evaluating TELNET IAC sequences.

ProFTPD bug report: http://bugs.proftpd.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3521

Fixes for the vulnerabilty and exploit.

Parallels has used its micro-update patch functionality in Plesk 9.5x, Plesk 10, and Small Business Panel 10.2 to fix this exploit. You can run the Parallels AutoInstaller to fix this or check the Updates section of your Plesk Panel 9.5x, Plesk 10, or Small Business Panel 10.2 to fix this. This is a file-replace, as opposed to a new install so it will be quick and reliable. To find this in the GUI:

Parallels Plesk Panel 10.x: “Server Management” -> “Tools & Utilities” -> “Updates” -> “Update Components” -> click “Continue”
