Today, I got a problem with one of my website. Suddenly, I could access my website using Nginx but all themes were gone. I, then, switched back to Apache. It became worse. I can’t access my website at all. The error when access my website using Apache is below :

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered

while

trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

At first, I thought something is wrong with my configuration but then, I could access DA control panel, Munin, phpmyadmin and any other pages without any problem. Also checked permission but it looks like it’s ok. Nothing is wrong. So, I checked error log and found error like below :

[Thu Dec 29 14:53:01 2011] [crit] [client xx.xx.xx.xx] (13)Permission denied: /home/admin/domains/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable

Google and found in DirectAdmin. Basically, it’s something about permission which I may not know what it is. John is kindly provided an updated set_permissions.sh allow us to set permission to specific user. You can get it from here -> http://files.directadmin.com/services/all/set_permissions.sh

Use it by type :

./set_permisions.sh set_user_home username

where username has to changed to the one you want. John said that set_permissions.sh will be included in the future version of DirectAdmin.

2) The second way is to turn off sqfe_mode using vhost.conf file. Create a vhost.conf file under “/var/www/vhosts/domainname.tld/conf/” directory and place the following lines:

<Directory /home/httpd/vhosts/<domain.com>/httpdocs>
php_admin_flag safe_mode off

Now, in order for Plesk to read these changes, execute

/usr/local/psa/admin/bin/websrvmng -a
service httpd restart

You can enable “register_globals” for a domain the same way mentioned in the 2nd step but make sure to execute the 2 commands for the changes to take effect.

Account Creation Status: failed (Your system has run out of available ip addresses, or you do not have permission to use any more ip addresses. (Unable to find an ip address.) )
You receive the “Account Creation Status: failed” error message while adding a domain from WHM >> Account Functions >> “Create a New Account” option which states that there is no free IP address to assign to your new domain.

The package you are using while adding a domain has the “Dedicated IP” option enabled which searches for a free IP on the server and tries to assign to the every new domain you create. To overcome the issue, you will have to deselect the “Dedicated IP” option from the package which can be achieved via ssh.

Edit the package file located under /var/cpanel/packages

# vi /var/cpanel/packages/packagename

Search for

IP=y

and replace it with

IP=n

Save the file. You should now be able to create an account from WHM successfully.

The “hostname resolves to. It should resolve to xx.xx.xx.xx” alert is sent by cPanel if the hostname of your server is not resolving to your server IP. The message send by cPanel is as follows:

IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
The hostname (server.domain.tld) resolves to . It should resolve to
xx.xx.xx.xx. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the ‘A’
entry in zone file for the domain.

Some are all of these problems can be caused by
/etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly. Please check this file if you
believe everything else is correct.

In order to stop the “hostname” alert, you need to make sure the hostname is pointing to your server IP. The ‘A’ record for the hostname has to be set where the name servers of “domain.tld” are hosted.

For example, if the hostname of your server is “server.abc.com”, an ‘A’ record for “server” has to be set on the servers where name servers assigned to “abc.com” are resolving. If the name servers for abc.com are resolving to your server, you need to edit the dns zone file of abc.com from

WHM >> DNS Functions >> Edit a DNS Zone”

and add an ‘A’ record for ‘server’ to point to your server IP.

If you are using your domain registrar’s name servers for abc.com, then you have to set an ‘A’ record in the domain registrar panel. But make sure it is set correctly on your server as well.

Next step is to see if the hostname is properly set in the /etc/hosts file of the server. SSH to your server as root and make sure the hostname is set as follows:

ServerIP server.abc.com server

If the hostname is resolving to your server IP and you still receive the alert message, disable the alert for the hostname from

WHM >> Server Contacts >> “IP Address DNS Check”

NOTE: If the hostname is resolving properly to your server, it is safe to ignore/disable these alerts. It is not going to effect the working of your server/websites in any ways.

Symptoms

MSDNS is used as the DNS server. Every time you try to update domain hosting settings or DNS settings, Parallels Plesk Panel stalls. Sometimes, it may fail with the following error:
Failed domain creation: Unable to update domain data: Unable to create dnsmng object: dnsmng failed: Empty error message from utility

The following message can be found in the event viewer:
Faulting application DNSMng.exe, version 9.501.0.0, time stamp 0x4bc1f9fd, faulting module MsProv.dll, version 9.501.0.0, time stamp 0x4bc205bc, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000600bb, process id 0x56c, application start time 0x01cae1ae46c559db

The utility “%plesk_bin%\dnsmng.exe” cannot be run from the command line. It fails with the error:
DNSMng.exe – Application Error : The instruction at “0x00ba74ac” referenced memory at “0x00bd2108″. The memory could not be “read”

Resolution

The issue is caused by the installation of MS update KB976576. This update updates libraries that are used by MSDNS.

A hotfix can be applied on Parallels Plesk Panel versions 8.6, 9.0 to 9.3, and 9.5.

Before applying the fix, you need to install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update (vcredist_x86.exe) from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=766a6af7-ec73-40ff-b072-9112bab119c2&displaylang=en

and back up the original file.

Fix for Parallels Plesk Panel version 8.6:
Replace the file “%plesk_bin%\MsProv.dll” with the file MsPRov.dll from the attachment.

Fix for Parallels Plesk Panel version 9.0-9.3:
Replace the file “%plesk_bin%\MsProv.dll” with the file MsPRov.dll from the attachment.

Fix for Parallels Plesk Panel version 9.5:
Replace the file “%plesk_bin%\MsProv.dll” with the file MsPRov.dll from the attachment.

Once complete, verify that you can perform domain operations and manage DNS records.

Additional information

%plesk_bin% is an environment variable which points to the Parallels Plesk binaries folder. Usually, it is located here: C:\Program files\Parallels\Plesk\admin\bin.
